Accessibility
Last updated: · Softnous Technologies Inc.
We build websites for a living, so an inaccessible site of our own would be a demonstration against our own competence. This page states what we target, what we have actually done, and where we currently fall short.
The standard we build to
WCAG 2.1 Level AA. That also satisfies the OntarioAccessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), which requires WCAG 2.0 AA for public websites, and supports our obligations under the federalAccessible Canada Act.
What we have done
- Contrast. Every text and background pairing in our color system is checked against AA contrast ratios, in both the dark and light sections of the site.
- Keyboard. Every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard, including the services menu, which opens on focus as well as on hover. A visible focus indicator is never removed, and a skip link is the first focusable element on every page.
- Structure. One
h1per page, headings in order, landmark regions, and labeled navigation so screen-reader users can jump between sections. - Forms. Every field has a programmatically associated label. Required fields are marked in text, not only by color.
- Motion. All animation respects
prefers-reduced-motion; with that setting on, nothing moves. There is no auto-playing video, no carousel and no parallax. - Zoom and reflow. Content reflows to 320px and remains usable at 200% zoom without horizontal scrolling.
- Images. Decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology; meaningful ones carry text alternatives.
Known limitations
We would rather name these than pretend they are solved:
- The booking calendar on Book a call is a third-party embed whose accessibility we do not control. If it does not work for you, thecontact form and our phone lines reach the same people and we will schedule for you.
- Some older blog posts and documents may not yet meet AA in full. We fix these as we find them, and a report from you moves one to the top of the list.
- We test with keyboard navigation, automated tooling and screen readers, but we have not yet commissioned a formal third-party audit.

This is the part that matters. If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, we want to hear about it, and we will treat it as a defect rather than a suggestion.

We acknowledge within 2 business days and will tell you what we are going to do about it and roughly when. If you need information from this site in another format, ask and we will provide it at no cost.
